ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book believes that such a view does not truly reflect the collective opinion of the Assembly and that it would violate the spirit and intention of the Charter. It believes that the smaller states have a specific and vital contribution to offer in the field of international relations. The book exemplifies the fear felt by small states standing alone in an area of superpower confrontation. The security formerly provided by the larger Arab states has been shattered by the controversy surrounding the Egyptian-Israeli peace accords, which left the Arab world divided and caused each country to engage in a struggle for its own survival. The Gulf Cooperation Council is to become the seed of a wider Arab federation; its first order of business must be a clear policy declaration, based on neutrality, opposing all foreign military bases in the Gulf.
