ABSTRACT

The patients benefit immensely from understanding their hearing loss as a journey through different phases with diverse challenges and needs. This more holistic approach creates an understanding and insight to what and why hearing loss and its consequences are happening and hence to what can be done. The patients’ insight gained from understanding their own journey and that they are not alone fosters a stronger engagement, motivation, and hence self-management to take action on the hearing loss. This is realized through feedback often received from clinics: “the patients are better equipped to make decisions that are right for them and to guide us on the support they need throughout their hearing journey.”
