ABSTRACT

This chapter describes how the implementation stage of ASPIRE relates to the Activities of Living, Self-Care Deficit and Neuman Systems models. The implementation of care is obviously a crucial part of the process, and providing care will take up most nursing students working day. The implementation stage really involves following the instructions within the care plan to provide evidence-based care. Roper, Logan and Tierney (RLT) are a little vague about the principles that should guide the implementation or, as they call it, nursing intervention. During the implementation stage nursing students are trying to help the patient to aquire, maintain or restore their maximum independence in carrying out the activity of living with nursing students nursing interventions. The implementation stage equates to what Orem called treatment operations. Primary prevention as intervention usually has two purposes: to reduce the patient's chance of encountering the stressor or to strengthen their flexible line of defence to reduce the chance of a reaction.
