ABSTRACT

Interesting pieces of information are supplied by various travelers, whose memoirs have as yet been examined only in part. One of the first mentions of this kind is that of the Italian traveler, Belzoni. His little-known description of a play-or, rather, two plays-seen at Shubra, in 1815, after a wedding ceremony, merits quoting164:
