ABSTRACT
The invitation to contribute to this volume has given each of us, “The Chosen 16”, the rare opportunity to refl ect rigorously on the evolution of our own thinking as part of broader global trends. Our thoughts will not remain as reminiscences recounted to a group of respectful students visiting elderly scholars at the fi reside. For me, this opportunity comes many years before I plan to retire.
