ABSTRACT
Peace Action New Mexico and California Peace Action played particularly important roles, including work on a joint public education and media campaign with colleague organizations in New Mexico. Indonesia because of its occupation of East Timor, securing the Ottawa Treaty banning anti-personnel landmines, obtaining a Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, cutting off funding for the Robust Nuclear Earth Penetrator, as well as helping to take down a few hawkish members of Congress and to replace them with pro-peace legislators. The campaign's framework was adapted in 2005 for Peace Action's Long-Range Strategic Plan, Real Security through International Cooperation and Human Rights. Peace Action is well positioned to do exactly that, with their campaign-developed through grassroots and national-level organizing and affirmed in our Long-range Strategic Plan-for Real Security through International Cooperation and Human Rights. Peace Action's steadfast commitment to ridding the world of the scourge of nuclear weapons has manifested itself in many different ways over the last 50 years.
