ABSTRACT

This chapter looks back to learn from what has empowered their movement. It articulates Peace Action's comprehensive plan for Real Security, based on international cooperation, freedom from weapons of mass destruction, and the primacy of human rights at home and abroad. And it shows how the actions work together for Real Security through International Cooperation and Human Rights. Unilateral foreign policy strategies have caused us to abrogate critical disarmament and environmental treaties, threaten and bully the United Nations. The United States can contribute to world peace and security much more effectively by working in tandem with international networks and treaties for human rights and freedom from weapons of mass destruction. Real security means safe and sustainable jobs, good schools, affordable health care, and renewable energy. Real security builds cooperation with other nations and peoples of the world so they all work together against preemptive wars and terrorism.
