ABSTRACT
Experience and Interpretation Empiricism is the epistemological theory that holds that all knowledge is based on experience, specifically the experience of our senses. Although the belief that sensory experiences are the only trustworthy sources of information defines empiricism, many empiricists have made several additional assumptions. They include the following:
1. Sensory experiences constitute the building blocks or foundation of knowledge, a view known as foundationalism.
