ABSTRACT

Chapter 12 inspects the status of implementing the most critical planning strategy in the ecological plan of McHarg and WMRT – that is, to use soil infiltration capacities to guide land development densities and locations, with the goal of maximizing runoff infiltration in order to mitigate flood. A series of overlay analyses were conducted to reveal the relationships between developed parcels and soil locations. Results suggest that this planning strategy was closely followed before The Woodlands ownership change in 1997 but ceased to be executed after 1997.
