ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book begins with an empirical puzzle of differentiated minority-related change in 1999-2014. Considering this puzzle, it provides an account of how external Europeanization can be explained from an interactive theoretical perspective through specifically focusing on Turkey's differentiated policy change in minority rights. The book draws attention to the implementation process in addition to legal adoption regarding Turkey's minority rights. It also provides a testable interaction-oriented theoretical framework to external Europeanization, which is hardly explored in the literature. The book discusses a vital step for further research to advance the understanding of external Europeanization, in case of Turkey as well as in other cases. The research needs to be widened to include European neighbourhood states, who are EU's partners within the European Neighbourhood Policy.
