ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to look at how Christmas found its way into Year One and also look at the end of term assessments. Each child has an individual folder and staff use these, combined with their vast knowledge of each child, to complete any assessments. The data produced at the end of the Autumn Term showed that almost every child had made good, or better, progress. The children love being at school, they display deep levels of involvement, they are laughing and talking, they are co-operating, persevering, taking risks and learning at every moment. Children are developing their physical ability from the moment they get out of bed – getting dressed, walking, cycling, skipping, running or hopping to school, moving around the building, etc. Many children are working in groups and one example of this was a gingerbread story.
