ABSTRACT

The mass of material goods surrounding us has grown so enormously in the course of a century, even during the last decade alone, that man is inclined to feel like a tiny ant in a world created by giants. Individual man, surrounded by sky-scrapers and gigantic machines, feels so small that it is no wonder if, out of false feelings of inferiority, foolish notions about self-generating steel creatures crop up and even gain some measure of credibility.
