ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on how respondent and operant conditioning develop and how the temporal sequencing of various events affects them. All complex learning, from learning to fear a particular stimulus to how to solve a complex problem, or from learning to joyfully anticipate a happy event to skillfully meeting physical challenges, involves respondent and operant conditioning. In order to understand complex learning, it is necessary to understand the processes involved in respondent and operant conditioning.
