ABSTRACT

In Chapter 1, the focus was on some of the foundational tools needed to understand and create design. This chapter continues to build upon design elements and metaphor, and includes exercises that are less theoretical and more directly applicable to the specifics of the costume design project assigned to the students. As noted earlier, this book targets teaching three design fields in just one semester, and for each field of study a design is substantially completed and presented. To connect the theoretical and the practical, we introduce the costume design final project at the beginning of Week 2.
