ABSTRACT
There are many modes of regarding the spectacle; but that which interests at present is the evidence of Design and Planning which it presents. Of any individual world, like this planet, the beginning may be traced, and the end speculated upon; but of the Universe as a whole that is not possible. The stars, for instance, whatever may have been their initial stages are of a size well adapted to supply heat and light and other necessaries to any planets which surround them. To the eye of the imagination, difficult as it may be to reason it out, the evidence of some sort of Design and Purpose is conspicuous throughout the Universe as a whole, and is as clear on the large scale, as in smallest details. Everything that exists appeals to the human mind and indicates a kinship with its rational processes. The sharing of true wealth does not diminish our own possession, but increases it.
