ABSTRACT

Jim’s childhood hyperactivity had transformed into mental hyperactivity as an adult. He is a great problem-solver and troubleshooter in his job, and juggled his demanding schedule by frequently staying up well beyond bedtime to catch up on bill paying, tax returns, or other work. Jim joked that it was a good thing he was hyperactive, because otherwise he’d never get everything done. Jim hit the ground running each morning. “I’m out the door early to beat the traffic. No matter what I’m doing all day, it feels as if I ought to be doing something else-when I’m in the car with the kids, I’m talking on my cell phone to my boss. If I’m out of town on a business trip, I feel bad that I’m missing the kids’ soccer games.”
