ABSTRACT

Ted is a highly educated, intelligent person who also happens to have attention deficit disorder. Despite his ADD, he has managed to earn his Ph.D., although his dissertation took him several years longer than planned. He has been married for over 20 years and has two daughters, both now in college. As Marian, his wife, has turned her attention away from their girls, she finds herself increasingly dissatisfied with her marriage. “I guess that I was so busy with our girls when they were growing up that my life was more separate from Ted’s.” Now, as she finally has time to spend with Ted, she frequently finds herself angry as he repeatedly arrives home later than planned. Not infrequently, he calls with an apology, saying that he won’t be home until quite late due to some impending deadline.
