ABSTRACT
This chapter provides evidence of the current economic system’s devastating impact on people and planet. First, this chapter presents specific business practices leading to negative outcomes for people and the planet at individual, firm, and local levels. Specific examples across a variety of industries are provided. Next, the chapter explores the ramifications of these destructive practices. The business practices common in the current system and their predictable role in destruction for the planet, its resources, and its inhabitants are discussed.
