ABSTRACT
Chapter 12: Technology and Transportation for Older Adults looks to the future of transportation. Technology has been, and continues to be, the bedrock of the evolution of transportation vehicles. The disruptive innovation of artificial intelligence and expert systems and their evolution during the past fifty years have changed the way people live, the way they work, and the vehicles they drive. In the world of 2017, the technology race promises many benefits for older adults, although it is unknown how quickly vehicle innovations, especially autonomous vehicles, will arrive and which cohorts will embrace them.
