ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a site where social innovators gather to connect with each other and with supporters is more than a convenience. The policies and other infrastructures the networks develop could act as boundary objects that assist both social innovators and the organizations that support them to translate and reconcile the requirements that are required for each to operate and collaborate with the other. The constant examination of experience and conversations around purpose and approach is rich and diverse, and occurring across multiple networks and organizations that have global reach and local presence. The community of social innovation practice seems to be most visible in the various interlocking social innovation networks that have arisen at local, national, regional and global levels. The networks that constitute social innovation community would seem well placed to develop several of communities, but in particular to facilitate repositories where stories become readily accessible in ways that facilitate asynchronous access on demand.
