ABSTRACT

The application of a solution-focused (SF) approach in agency settings (McAllister, 2007; Pichot & Dolan, 2003; Turnell & Edwards, 1999) and in supervision in a number of different settings has been well documented (Wheeler, 2007). What is different about this chapter is not only the focus on the supervision of supervisors, but also why this approach has proven so helpful within an Asian context. In this chapter I share my experience of what has worked in practice in supervising supervisory managers in the social and educational sector, whose roles run the gamut from managing task performance, to providing specialist input on complex matters to emotional support.
