ABSTRACT

I am a school counsellor at an International School in Chennai, India, and work with Asian students attending the school. Asian students in international schools grapple with melding two very different cultures, the one that they go home to at night and the one that they face during the day. In the following chapter, the effectiveness of using solution-focused brief therapy will be demonstrated using a case example of an Asian student to demonstrate how to address culturally sensitive issues and fi nd the balance between the home and school cultures.
