ABSTRACT

As a school counsellor, I support Asian students within a broad range of academic, behavioural and social-emotional issues. These include learning diffi culties, executive functioning diffi culties, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders and emotional regulation. With Asian students who have lived abroad in many different countries, I fi nd that the SF approach allows me to stay focused on

their abilities and capabilities to help them successfully manage their diffi culties, and my curiosity enables me to explore this, rather than focusing on the complexities of their life.
