ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book offers the construction detailing of small-scale water features, typically for urban gardens or spaces where there are restrictions. It focuses on water features of a scale suitable for small and medium gardens. The book explains the creation of robust and permanent water features that are generally part of a larger landscape or garden being constructed at the same time. It also offers a technical reference to the construction of small to medium scale water features. The book deals with the development of designs, to allow the designer to start a conversation with those who will supply and construct the features and its elements. It introduces the more common elements typically found in water feature design. The book provides a general knowledge for the basic principles, materials and techniques encountered when engineering with water.
