ABSTRACT

Not all pupils with cerebral palsy will require additional adult support in order to meet their needs within the classroom. However, for those pupils who have a more significant level of need, the provision of support staff is vital to ensure that their needs can be met.

The Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice, 2014 states:

Where the interventions involve group or one-to-one teaching away from the main class or subject teacher they should still retain responsibility for the pupil working closely with any teaching assistants or specialist staff involved to plan and assess the impact of interventions.
