ABSTRACT
My desire to communicate with people from diff erent cultures motivated me to go on to university where I was able to receive training to become a teacher of English. In order to fulfi ll my desire to be a good English teacher who tells others the benefi ts of teaching the language, I made my best eff ort to be “perfect.” I decided to pursue my MA in TESOL in the United States and then my PhD before returning to Japan to teach English and train teachers at a university.
