ABSTRACT
Now that you have some background on the origins of the United Nations, examining the UN Charter and its evolution is a practical course to take. In this chapter, we cover the original provisions of the Charter, formal and informal amendments to it, the effects of various historical events (including the Cold War and the post–Cold War) on it, the financial crises that beset it, and the various types of reforms the Charter underwent as a result of such crises and events.
