ABSTRACT

Not only has the UN Charter evolved, but also along with it, the various UN institutions—including the six principal organs of the United Nations—have evolved. In this chapter, we discuss the adaptations these institutions have undergone and continue to undergo. We also cover the new global structures that complement the work of the UN entities. Finally, we discuss the groups that emerged from the Bretton Woods Conference to effect global free trade and financial stability and we analyze their role in and impact on the UN System.
