The above behaviours may become more extreme as pupils progress through primary school, for example: poor confidence, poor self-esteem increasingly observed, being quiet, withdrawn and easily upset, regular work avoidance, joking, showing off, inappropriate responses, coping procedures swaying and aggressive/difficult behaviours. Incidences of bullying, especially name calling and verbal bullying, can occur It can happen at playtimes and at unobserved occasions. School staff need to be aware of such possibilities and have strategies in place to deal with such events. Pupils do not always mention or report such incidences.
