ABSTRACT

This article revisits the question of transnational research practices for the field of American studies, seeking to assess to what degree the field has adapted to its internationalization. Focusing on recent publications in the American Studies Association’s flagship journal American Quarterly and a recent startup venture, Transnational American Studies , it seeks to gauge to what degree the field has learned to be respectful of the scholarship of researchers affiliated with and publishing through foreign institutions and to understand the importance of academic production in languages other than English to make possible a robust and ethical internationalization of the field.
