ABSTRACT

Having focused in the previous chapter on the theoretical foundations of my transhistorical intersubjective methodology of research, in this chapter I am applying what I have theoretically postulated: I am describing how key themes and core issues of my own life interrelate with corresponding ones in that of Otto Gross, common issues which spark interests and create mutual attractions, elective affinities. I envision us like two characters in a play extending over time, interacting in ways meaningful to both. In this, I understand my choice of subject as mutual: I have chosen to engage with Gross as much as he has chosen me – for that very purpose of mutually changing each other to heal and individuate. Aware that our dialectic interrelating has contributed to this in my life, and continues to do so, I trust that, together, we have achieved the same for him.
