ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines some new topics that are related to business process management, such as: decision model and notation (DMN); blockchain technology; and organizational routines. DMN is a step towards separating decision making from the control flow of a process. Blockchain is a new technology that became popular as a secure, safe, trusted and reliable mechanism for making digital payments. Public key cryptography is used to encrypt the information stored on the blockchains to ensure its privacy. Sequence analytics concept was adopted by sociologists and in information systems to gain a better understanding of the socio-technical aspects of work processes. So the larger issue is that task sequences, actor sequences, and actor patterns all have an impact on the performance of routines in an organization. By applying analysis techniques to actual logs, it is possible to gain a deeper understanding of the issues involved and improve work design in an organization.
