ABSTRACT

When Jack placed a transparent, pink-coloured plastic sheet over a page of text, to his surprise it stopped the words from ‘floating about’. Just as astonishing was that, on reading the text aloud, his speed of reading increased by 65 per cent and he was then able to read at the speed of a non-dyslexic adult. Jack said he did not read a book from cover to cover until he was in his late teens, as at that time he had been remanded in custody and had nothing else to do. In his thirties Jack was diagnosed as being dyslexic and dyspraxic. A high level of visual stress was also present.
