ABSTRACT

Classroom management is all about prevention, because there is no perfect reaction. One of the most essential factors in influencing student behaviour is not determining what to do when students misbehave. It is determining what to do when students behave. As a teacher, one should focus on positive behaviours the large majority of the time that they are managing their classroom. This is a way that one can build their warm classroom climate because one will be managing student behaviour in a positive way. There are many different strategies that teachers use to reinforce positive behaviour and give consequences for negative behaviour, and there are a variety of philosophies behind each of the strategies. To be a successful classroom manager, one must hold students accountable for their inappropriate actions. When brainstorming ideas on what to use, would highly recommend observing teachers, reading classroom management books and articles, talking to mentors, and even browsing teacher blogs.
