ABSTRACT

Townsend was progressively working toward a theory-based, general, non-parametric characterization of capacity, retaining the optimism of being able to find a solution when many investigators had tacitly abandoned hope. The Townsend; and Townsend and Ashby chapters are notable preludes to Townsend and Nozawa's Journal of Mathematical Psychology paper, in which they brought all of these ideas together in a single meta-theory. The effects of stimulus organization on perception and cognition dates at least to the publication of Wertheimer's seminal paper on what has come to be called Gestalt perception. The neurobiological basis of capacity as bandwidth relates to the structural integrity of the underlying neural circuits. One domain in which the relationship between structural integrity and throughput is of critical interest do with the brain states preceding the onset of Alzheimer's dementia, one of which is known as mild cognitive impairment. Iron deficiency (ID) and iron deficiency anemia are two of the most prevalent nutrient deficiencies in the world.
