ABSTRACT

Almost everything we do involves some form of negotiation. That’s true in our work at school with teachers, staff, students, and families. It’s also true in our personal lives. For example, if you have a teenager, you know you are always negotiating over things like chores, curfews, and money. Negotiation is more than resolving employee issues or collective bargaining. Successful negotiating involves listening to others and respecting and valuing their ideas and opinions, even when we don’t agree.
