ABSTRACT
Trusted Advisor Associates created the TQ Trust Quotient, a self-assessment instrument based on the Trust Equation, from the book The TrustedAdvisor. A trusted advisor knows how to get personal – with respect, but quickly. And an ethical consultant is one who is able to operate in the real world, to function as more than a sentient database, all the while being sensitive to personal and social norms. A trusted advisor always and only wants what is right for the client, secure in the knowledge that that focus is precisely what will also serve the firm well. The problem of incompatible interests, so central to most business ethical issues, is largely unnecessary in consulting. Properly conceived, a trusted advisor relationship is all about synergy and win-win; the attitude benefits both consultant and client.
