ABSTRACT

Ethiopia is a small open and rapidly growing economy with a shallow financial sector and low coverage of financial services. In addition, there is a lack of more sophisticated financing mechanisms such as leasing, and equity funds. The financial sector is highly regulated and closed from foreign competition. However, financial soundness indicators reveal that it is profitable and stable.
