ABSTRACT

This section introduces the various foci of this book, discussing Corpus Linguistics (CL) and its many relevant applications to language teaching and learning. In this setting, CL includes components such as computers and the internet, corpora, corpus tools, online databases (especially those with an interface to search electronic texts), and frequency-based data or results from analyses of corpora (e.g., word lists, key words, n-grams, part-of-speech or POS tags, and many others). Various definitions, a historical overview, and a section on how to use the book are provided.
