ABSTRACT
The combination of the story of Rucka Manor, the overall theme of 'Get Well City', led to the brief titled 'Sanatorija': It seemed to click into place. In order to have a design ready to build by the end of the first week it requires the group to go through an intensive process of brief development, research, fieldwork, prototyping, material testing and discussion. The chapter have considered whether the authors should abandon this first week of design work and get straight to the building as some other intensive build workshops do. By the end of the second day of construction the prefabrication of the primary timber structure was going well but we realized we were seriously behind on the foundation solutions. Sanatorija has been used over the following year by numerous groups who came to stay at Rucka Manor and by our own school the next year.
