ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses Inter-Group simulations, which deal with a group of participants interacting with other groups. This simulation typically takes one of two forms. The first entails a group of participants interacting with a group of role players. In the second form, one group of participants interacts with another group of participants. Inter-Group simulations typically entail the group being presented with background information about their role and the scenario. A key decision in designing an Inter-Group simulation is whether to have groups of participants interact with each other or to use role players to represent one or more groups. The total time required to conduct Inter-Group simulations can range from a few hours to several days. The purpose of the after-action review is to help simulation participants reflect after an event has occurred and gain greater insight and awareness of their performance and how to improve for the future.
