ABSTRACT

This chapter presents many relevant sources of guidance and provides an overview of key sections most relevant to the development and implementation of simulations. Simulations must comply with an array of statutes, administrative regulations, and professional standards and guidelines. The chapter describes only United States federal statutes. Statutes of states and cities also can affect human resource practices. The provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and ADA Amendments are complex and have been clarified by many regulations and legal rulings. Although the ADA reviewed previously supersedes many aspects of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 of this act remains heavily in effect. It requires that all users, regardless of their disability, have access to electronic and information technology. The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs requires that organizations keep records of the demographic information on applicants, so they can show compliance with equal employment requirements.
