ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the formation of an emergent feedback organization. Mal places the results of the report on the agenda for a forthcoming Annual State of the University Forum. Mal takes care of the fifth goal immediately by asking the director of the office of learning and teaching to build a second-phase professional development schedule focused on advanced skills for implementing the new assessment policy. The director of the learning analytics office will assist with presenting the data. The process, data, and decisions made at Cape Southern are not a case of bad faith on behalf of the more senior staff, or simply the choice of the wrong data. There is nothing in the scenario that suggests Cape Southern is inattentive to external forces or influence. The team includes the deans, a program director and faculty member from each of the faculties, and the manager of the office of governance.
