society. The shadow economy reproduces structural corruption, from street level to corporate decisions and public procurement procedures. In this vein, the shadow economy remains a major stumbling block in the path of Eurasian integration. Finally, the prospect for further political integration is under question, given the negative consequences of the Ukrainian crisis among the member states. Taking into account these factors, the pragmatist, interest-driven thinking should remain a necessary component of Russia’s foreign policy.
