ABSTRACT

Theories of play abound, but they can be studied in two main categories. These are, play versus work and play as education. Play as education can be subdivided. Children all over the world play, if given the opportunity to do so. Although play is central to humanity, it remains one of the most difficult processes to pin down. Games carry many of the features found in free flowing play, but there is one crucial difference. Games involved externally generated rules and goals. Play is a process which brings together these processes, so that they become integrated and interact in close synchrony.
