ABSTRACT

The question of suburban areas is substantial; however, some solutions can still be proposed, starting with the idea that

even though the [existence] of a worldly economic power in the metropolis…there are places in which the poverty is concentrated. In the physical shape of the city this is expressed in the decayed districts in which the immigrants from other countries live in non-admissible life conditions.

The UN have underlined the question of slums and proposed a solution. In the strategy for the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals, number 7, target 11, they propose “by 2020, to improve substantially the lives of at least 100 million of slum dwellers, while providing adequate alternatives to new slum formation”.
