ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the question of the oblique urban districts which is strongly represented in the cities where the natural morphology of the ground presents hilly areas and various slopes. The main principles targeted by the project for city regeneration were: enhancing the panoramic spots and requalifying the important historical part of the city that connects the superior residential districts to the central historic texture. The case of the oblique city is that of a very famous little town in the well-known tourist area of the Amalfi coast, Positano, which in ancient times was built on a very hilly slope towards the sea. For city regeneration, the small plaza could promote a new convivial area for running a number of activities. The selection of green areas, the timber for the fence and tent structure, and the rammed earth for the small information point construction match the technological approach to environmental design.
