ABSTRACT
The speaker is Cassie, a first-year teacher at a comprehensive high school in a small city in the US South. Her mix of African American, Latino/a, and White high school students had been seemingly supercharged by the cafeteria eruption. They were animated, to say the least, sparking colorful descriptions of what had gone down, offering causes and results, and generally unpacking the event and the possible upshots.
