ABSTRACT
This chapter presents some strategies that will help teachers handle challenging parents. These strategies can be utilized even more by a school leader. If the parents are upset that their child was referred to the office, and they feel that the teacher is picking on them. One way to take the pressure off the teacher is to combine the concept of sharing what students know and also adding that they would have done more than the teacher did. This is one of the reason they have to have the ability to control their emotions and thinking process, even when others around are not, especially when others around they are not. Keep in mind that teachers must always keep a professional and sincere tone in working with parents. It gives, one tactic they shared for dealing with a volatile parent was to calmly and gently say, Please don't talk to me like that.
