ABSTRACT
The world of digital media is evolving rapidly. Connection to the internet is nearly ubiquitous. Many people access the internet not from their desks but from mobile devices while moving around in the world. Wayfinding is a useful metaphor for thinking about navigation through websites. Multimedia software for creating animations or interactive elements does take time and energy to master, but is worth the effort if one plan to work with animations or interactive websites. Interactive media let audiences become participants in website graphics and interpretive exhibits. A blog is considered a kind of social media because readers are able to comment and have discussions with other readers as well as with the author. Simulations are often used in community planning. The goal of a simulation is to produce a high level of realism so that viewers can experience a simulated place in much the same way they would a real place.
